Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine.
I graduated from the Poznań University of Medical Sciences. Between 2008 and 2024 I worked in the United Kingdom where I completed my foundation training and specialty training in general internal medicine, diabetes and endocrinology. In 2015 I received the Lewis Thomas Gibbon Jenkins of Briton Ferry Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians Wales to complete research on characterisation of extracellular vesicles in human obesity. This led to obtaining the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Cardiff University in 2018 (Supervisors: Prof Aled Rees, Prof. Philip James) Since 2019 I have worked as Consultant in General Internal Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University Hospital of Wales.
I am a member of various British and European medical societies such as The Royal College of Physicians UK, Diabetes UK, European Society of Endocrinology and Society for Endocrinology UK. I am a member of The Corporate Liaison Committee at the latter. In 2020 I was awarded the Society for Endocrinology Leadership and Development Clinician in Practice Award and I was elected as the Wales representative for the New Consultants‘ Committee at the Royal College of Physicians.
In 2023 I was awarded the RCP Fellowship-FRCP UK.
I am an author of multiple publications in medical journals and numerous oral and poster presentations at diabetes and endocrine conferences and scientific meetings. I have been involved as Co-Investigator or Principal Investigator in many clinical and observational trials in diabetes and endocrinology such as Empa-kidney, Trimaster, Medimmune, Daisy-PCOS, CAHtalyst, I-CAH, I-DSD, UK-EDI, FREMS-PDPN, Diurnal CHAMPAIN. I have a keen interest in medical education and I am a tutor at the University of South Wales.
I have a vast experience in diagnosis and management of multiple endocrine and metabolic conditions such as:
- Diabetes mellitus type 1 and type 2 and their complications
- Gestational diabetes
- Lipid disorders
- Obesity
- Thyroid disorders (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, autoimmune thyroid disease, thyroiditis, thyroid nodules)
- Disorders of adrenal glands (hypoadrenalism, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, adrenal nodules, Cushing’s syndrome, Conn’s syndrome)
- Pituitary disorders (adenomas, Cushing’s disease, acromegaly, hyperprolactinaemia, Arginine Vasopressin Deficiency)
- Neuroendocrine tumours
- Gonadal disorders (PCOS, male hypogonadism, premature ovarian failure, disorders of sexual development)
- Hyper- and hypoparathyroidism
- Diagnosis of hormonal causes of hypertensions
- Hyperhidrosis
